Batty at Balgay
Volunteers are invited to come along and take positive action for the city's bat population at this month's Balgay Conservation volunteer day on 17th February.
Dundee City Council Countryside Ranger Service have been awarded funding from Scottish Natural Heritage to purchase 50 bat box kits and all that is needed is willing volunteers to help construct the boxes.
The Rangers will also be joined on Sunday by members of the recently formed Dundee Bat Group. This group with the welfare of the city's bats in mind has been established after a successful bat surveying project by Bat Conservation Trust in 2007.
Convenor of Leisure and Communities, Cllr Richard McCready said "it is great to see new a conservation group in Dundee working in partnership with our city's Ranger Service to protect this threatened mammal".
Anyone wishing to come along to the volunteering day should meet at Mills Observatory on Sunday 17th February at 1pm, all tools will be provided.
